Wormsloe Historic Site (also called Wormsloe State Historic Site) was the home of Noble Jones, who arrived with the colony of Georgia in 1733 and built a fortified estate here in the late 1730s. The remains of his tabby house, a mix of oyster shell, lime and sand, are among the oldest surviving structures near Savannah. This guide is independent and not run by the site.

The oak avenue
The best-known view is the avenue of live oaks at the entrance: about 400 trees, planted in the late 1800s, line a road of roughly 1.25 miles. The Spanish moss and arching branches make it one of Georgia’s most photographed scenes.
What to see inside
